ABOUT The Caribbean Solo Traveller
Hi there, I’m glad that you found me, by coincidence or referral, I’m happy to welcome you to my travel blog. For those who are unfamiliar with me. I will introduce myself and explain more about the Caribbean Solo Traveller.
WHO AM I?!
My name is Cora, my friends call me Cory, if you did not know by now, I am CoraDexplorer, the Caribbean Solo Traveller. I am the author of the book The Art of Travelling Alone and now a travel blogger/writer. So far, I have visited a little more than 70 countries and 6 of the 7 continents and have gained lots of knowledge and insights into what it takes to travel alone.
I am 40+ years old (lol) and I am from the beautiful and tropical Caribbean also known as the West Indies, (for my international readers who think they are two different locations or located in Africa, and NO the Caribbean is not A country!!! The Caribbean is comprised of many small islands/countries in the North/South/Central and Latin American Continent. I am specifically from the beautiful twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (the country where the musical instrument, the Steel Pan was invented, and hosts the best Carnival worldwide).
I consider myself a true representation of a Caribbean woman. Besides Trinidad and Tobago, my roots lies also in St. Vincent and Grenadines (beautiful islands, with both black and white sandy beaches and also the location where the movie – The Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed), Montserrat (Caribbean island which was almost completely destroyed by volcanic eruption in 1995, however, it still has an inclusion zone that is quite safe to visit and enjoy}, Portugal and not forgetting my Irish lineage, all from my mother, father and grandparents respectively.
WHAT DO I REALLY LOVE!?!
What is prominent about me is I LOVE TO TRAVEL. It’s my biggest love and passion. Of course, there are other things that I love also, Fish (except sushi) Chocolates (esp. white) Roses (just love the smell) and Ice cream. I love love love to laugh, come with a good joke and I’m sold. Outside of these, I don’t let much else bother me. I am a loner and more of a low-keyed person, so this new step in my life as a blogger and an author.
This will be a big step out of my comfort zone and a bit of a learning process, moving forward…so be patient as we move forward together. I also have a developing side passion, which is my interest in photography and I am currently a registered photographer on Getty Images and Shutterstock both are perfect for buyers and sellers of photographs, you can peruse my Shutterstock Profile and Getty images/istock Profile where you can purchase photographs or sign up to register as a photographer and sell your photographs.
WHY DID I CHOOSE TO WRITE!?!
I have been writing reviews on TripAdvisor for the past 10 years however, but on a low-keyed manner….in fact I am the #1 reviewer in my country for the past 4 years. The difference with this medium of writing on my TripAdvisor account, is that you don’t get to tell your stories, life experiences…just reviews of hotels, airlines, sites and restaurants. Many times, when I travel, random people have been giving the same advice, “YOU NEED TO WRITE A BOOK OR START BLOGGING” So finally I decided to listen and start writing.
After being employed for almost 18 years in the Finance Department of the Telecommunications Company. I have now committed myself to writing full time, to share my travel stories as well as to Inspire, educate and empower the average person, to go discover the world or how to maximize one vacation into many mini vacations. With a bit of sacrifice and less judgement of those who are courageous enough to do it on their own. So, whether you are already an avid traveller or want to take your first trip alone or with company my blogs will assist in some way into the dos and don’ts, hints and tips to make your trip easier and more enjoyable.
In my subsequent posts, I will be “keeping it real” with you I will motivate you to the point where you will be travelling too, I will give you step by step guidelines as to how to save, research, plan, pack and enjoy a vacation alone or with friends and family. I promise to give clear, honest and concise information that even the youngest child can understand.
My writings will be simple and effective. There will be no need to reach for your dictionary. So be sure to subscribe for every post and tips I will be sending to you in the future along with discount links etc. I will deeply appreciate it.
