AMAZED BY FLORENCE

ITALY - SURPRISED BY ROME AMAZED BY FLORENCE

Italy is a dream destination for most people, many of its cities have different scenarios and specifics to look forward to, like Milan, Venice, etc. Before visiting, I discovered through research that Rome is the most beautiful city in the world. My mainstay was in Rome but I also visited Florence to experience first-hand how life in Florence is compared to Rome. To get to Florence, you can travel by plane or take the train. It is a four hours’ train ride away from Rome if you use the slower, cheaper train at almost 50€, or the faster train at under two hours for almost double the price. Keep reading and I will disclose to you the reasons for my title, Italy – surprised by Rome Amazed by Florence.

WHY NOT VISIT CHISINAU MOLDOVA!?

Why not visit Chisinau Moldova!?  This is my question to many.  I have been asked the same rather weird question by many people, why are you going to Moldova or where is it?  In transiting through another European country, the Immigration Officer said to me “what’s in Moldova why are you going there?” His female colleague also agreed with his sentiments, then she said to be sure to try the Bucuria (chocolate candies).  I quickly jotted down the name, because, for this recommendation from another country, I thought…it must be good, the male officer also concurred.

FEMALE SOLO TRAVELLER IN DOHA QATAR

I finally got to experience the world’s no.1 airline, Qatar Airways, the no.1 airline worldwide. This is the official airline of Qatar, my Comments!? ( see my review of the service and overall experience on Qatar Airways here). Note to Caribbean Airlines, the official airlines of Trinidad and Tobago. You are still the no.1 airlines when it comes to legroom space in the economy seating.  I must admit…very spacious and comfortable, perfect for tall travellers.  This is a short synopsis of what to expect and what I observed/experienced as a female solo traveller in Doha, Qatar.

TWO MOST WARM-HEARTED COUNTRIES VISITED

A country with riches but unfriendly, impolite people is a huge turn-off. For me what makes a country beautiful and great is its people. It helps if it also has yummy ice cream and tasty fish lol (that’s just me). Wealth, beautiful sceneries and aesthetically appealing are all nice, however, if your people are unfriendly, impolite and or racial, then there is no connection or yearning to ever return or to even talk much about it. I will share with you the two most warm-hearted countries I have ever visited.

BLACK FEMALE SOLO TRAVELLER IN EUROPE

TALES OF A BLACK FEMALE SOLO "Caribbean" TRAVELLER IN EUROPE

Being a black female solo traveller in Europe can bring you lots of good and bad attention from the airports to the streets.  From both males and females, especially when travelling alone.  I meet women sometimes, who will walk up to me and compliment me on my hair (if I am wearing the African braids), my skin colour, etc. The men most times see you as an “unfamiliar species” and want to be the first to “get to know you better”. I will share some views and tales of a black female solo traveller in Europe.

Nb. Countries featured in this post are some of the friendliest and most welcoming countries visited as a black woman).  See my Destination page for full reviews and more photos.
